Digital Imaging and Communication In Medicine (DICOM) is the internationally accepted industry standard in radiology for the transfer of post-processing images and other medical information between computers. DICOM is the computer language that lets workstations, CT and MRI scanners, shared archives, host computers and mainframes "talk" to each other no matter if they are made by multiple vendors or located at several sites.
